The open astronomy tools are clients of public services run by others, and we thank the teams who operate them: NASA's Astrophysics Data System, arXiv, the Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (SIMBAD, VizieR and the cross-match service), the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database, other public archives and the Virtual Observatory registries. The calculators use the open source library astropy.
Models
The benchmark results on the open tools page were measured with the open-weight models gpt-oss-120b from OpenAI and Ministral 3 14B from Mistral AI, which we thank for releasing them. CASPER uses commercial models for some tasks, for example Claude from Anthropic.
